Validations Overview
Validations Overview
We offer rigorous compliance checks to ensure that the organisations in our database – nonprofits, social impact organisations, and educational institutions – are valid, compliant and meet our customers’ eligibility criteria.
We complete validation checks every time:
- A nonprofit is claimed in our causes portal
- A donation request comes in for a nonprofit that hasn’t been validated by us
- An applicant is submitted through an Education verification flow
The same four checks below run for both nonprofit and education verification. The Eligibility check adapts to the configuration’s allowed organisation types — for education it determines the institution type (K–12, university, college, etc.) rather than nonprofit activity tags.
Below you can see a brief description what each check means. It’s worth noting that all checks are asynchronous and typically take between 1 minute and 72h before they are complete
Validation
We make sure that a nonprofit actually exists. For this, we check official registry websites from the nonprofit’s country and search for it (using either name or registration code).
Nonprofits that have already been validated by us will have this check done automatically.

Due diligence checks ensuring a nonprofit is not involved in any damaging activities. The checks we do are the following:
- Sanction checks
- Warning checks
- Adverse media checks
- Hate speech checks
Eligibility

For nonprofits and social impact organisations, we tag the organisation based on what their purpose is (e.g. climate change).
For educational institutions, we tag the organisation based on its type (e.g. K–12, university, college, community college).
The result matches against your eligibility settings to either approve or reject the applicant. Get in touch with our team so they can set up your configuration for you.
Agent verification
Learn more about agent verification in our agent verification page
We confirm the applicant is associated with the organisation (the nonprofit, or the school for education verification). To do that we do a few things:
- Domain matching: the email domain and the organisation’s website domain are the same
- If the domain doesn’t match, we contact the organisation to confirm the applicant is associated with it
- Email verification: the applicant must verify they have access to the email
